In delivering the subject content, the lecturer panel of the department of TL & M is a unique combination of both the academia and the industry. Consequently the panel comprises of Professors, Lecturers, Consultants and Professionals including Managers and Specialists from the industry. This diversity has led to the expertise of the academic staff to lie in varied fields ranging from Engineering, Marketing, HRM, Economics, Law and Management.
The Departmentís primary objective is to develop competent professionals with well balanced knowledge, skills and attitudes to meet national and international needs in the Transport and Logistics sector and it presently accommodates 200 under graduates.
Currently we occupy three floors of the Class Room block, which comprises of 2 floors office space and 1 floor for the computer lab of the department. The lab is now being renovated so as to accommodate 60 computers. It is envisaged that holding quizzes and short tests (MCQ tests) will be carried out in the lab itself over the internet for the students (in a particular batch) simultaneously.

The Government of Sri Lanka has approved Rs. 53 Mn for the Stage 1 of the proposed new building to house the TLM Department comprising classrooms, laboratories and staff offices. The designs for this project have been completed and the construction work is anticipated to commence in 2010 and be completed in 2011.
